AM & Shawn Lee Make Holland Debut of their New Album Celestial Electric

at Motel Mozaique Festival April 20 

and add free Amsterdam Meet & Greet, acoustic set, and songwriter workshop April 21 at the Renaissance hotel

If you caught New Orleans raised, L.A. based indie artist AM opening for AIR and Charlotte Gainsbourg last year, then you won’t want to miss him headline his new musical collaboration with London groove master Shawn Lee mysteriously entitled “AM & SHAWN LEE” making their very first Holland debut of their new album Celestial Electric  (Naïve) April 20 with a performance at Motel Mozaique Festival in Rotterdam and another very special appearance in Amsterdam at the Renaissance Hotel on April 21 to play a DJ set of the music collection that inspired the making of the album, perform an acoustic set, and then do a Q&A with audience members interested in discussing the craft of songwriting.

In honor of their Spring Tour, AM & Shawn Lee are giving away a free mp3 of their single Dark Into Light www.facebook.com/amandshawnlee and also another free mp3 of the brand new remix http://snd.sc/GUku2r from France’s Blundetto, aka Max Guiguet famed program director for Radio Nova France which was remixed on the dawn of their return to Europe.

AM and Shawn Lee arrive in Paris this week to take you into their rock group.

Perhaps neither their name nor music says anything to you, and yet this new pop formation presents its first successful and captivating album Celestial Electric. Their name? AM and Shawn Lee, a duo formed by Mr. Lee, composer and renowned multi-instrumentalist, and AM, singer with a hypnotic voice.

The meeting? It’s AM who’s the cause of the collaboration, since it’s he who contacted Shawn Lee via Myspace, and we don’t regret the union. Their first opus is a beautiful invitation on a cosmic journey. It offers a simple way to a galaxy of multiple influences. A duality of style and of sounds which mix energetic pop and psychedelic rock.

From the first listen, we are transported by catchy bass lines and cosmic keys. From gliding guitar solos on “City Boy” to the more rock spheres of “Somebody Like You,” the thread of this charming bric-a-brac is surely the retro spirit which is vested in every song. Probably brought by Shawn Lee (unavoidable when you’ve worked with Jeff Buckley) this small side nostalgic road trip in the Midwest is not unpleasant and recalls the ghosts of Laurel Canyon.
